Project |01
Portrait & Interview Project
​
Students chose a friend or family member to photograph and interview. The student was working as a journalist creating a feature piece on a person who they deemd important to them. The result was a glimpse into each students life and who they value.

Symbolic Self Portraits
​
Students used a silhouette self portrait shape to create "Symbolic Self Portraits". They first did some skill building with colored pencils then worked on brainstorming ideas on how to represent themselves with icons and symbols. The final product need to incorporate a color scheme and a background pattern while demonstrating creative thought and good craftsmanship.

Pattern Based Zentangles
​
Students incorporated pattern creation and craftsmanship skills as they created Zentangle compositions. The students had to work collaboratively to make their piece connect visually with another classmate's work and decide how and where they would be exhibited. This confidence building project showed students they could draw unique and visually interesting designs without tracing and showed that work that is collabrorative and displayed can have a big visual impact.

"Food For Thought" Still Life Drawings
​
Students visited the "Food For Thought" exhibit at the Cannon Art Gallery in Carlsbad then created their own still lifes, photographed them and used graphite pencil to create realistic drawings from direct obervation.

"Drugs in our Society" A Chemistry & Art Project to Raise Public Awareness
​
The end of the year project for this group of 10th graders involved students working in groups and developing their own public awareness art campagain. In Chemistry they chose topics related to drugs in our society and researched those topics in preparation for a Q&A panel. In Multimedia Art they worked in those groups to create a work of art that would educate and inform the viewer on their topic.
