Opener: In your sketchbook complete the opener described on the board. Try using crosshatch and stipple dots to add value and give your drawings form.

A color scheme that uses "analogous" colors.

A color scheme that uses "complimentary" colors.

Van Gogh's painting uses "split complimentary" colors.

Picasso used "neutral" colors and "analogous" colors for this Spanish guitarist.

Current project: "Symbolic Self Portrait"

Trace your profile onto 9x12 drawing paper and use pencil to illustrate the interior of yourself.

Use colored pencil and go over your pencil drawings. Choose a color theme for your composition.

Closer: Review of what we learned today and what we will do tomorrow.

Learning Objectives: Students will be able to critical evaluate their own work and that of their classmates. Students will make intentional choices of shapes,symbols and colors to put personal meaning into their own art work.

Essential Question: How do I self-identify? How do I see myself? How does color effect visual art?
